Another Wonga Victim

Options
Think i qualify for the most taken from my bank account yet
£5000 over 48 hours, 16 transactions, apparently my bank did not notice this :(
It's all been refunded, but was made more unpleasant by the fact the criminal(s) paid some money back in, thus making it look like I had a relationship with Wonga.
To those puzzled about how it was done, I have discovered that anyone can request your name and address from DVLA if they have your car reg, colour & make/model. They only then need your cloned card details and kerching, easy enough to set up multiple loan applications because Wonga allow their customers to operate more than one bank account at a time and use CAT rather than DD to collect owing money.
Have vowed to only pay cash at petrol stations from now on, have lost sleep, time and still without debit cards and cash.
If you receive a letter from Wonga, do NOT believe their fraud department will do anything about it, ring your bank immediately, check your accounts and cancel all your debit cards.
With any luck the OFT will close them down, well at least until they reinvent themselves again

If you sign up to the DVLA, you can get a LOT of information just from a car reg number for just 25p. This is how a lot of private parking firms operate and how they manage to send you an invoice.

Another reason to always use a CC instead of a DC.

Was the funds in via Wonga?
Deal with this all the time and never see funds being paid in. That would say to me that someone knows your account number, not just your card number.

Wonga used to be one of the better PDL in terms of avoiding fraud.
Till they were on watchdog back in November.
Seems that was like a red rag to the fraudsters and they have hammered them since....

Credit or debit card makes no diffrence. In fact on a debit card you get the money straight back, unlike a credit card which can take a while.

But at least its not your money :)

So DDs, etc, still get paid and you can still get cash.

Not quite true, because Wonga had also paid in some credits bank wouldn't refund for 24 hours until Wonga had confirmed I was not a customer of theirs. First bank CSA I spoke to told me, wrongly, that the onus was on me to prove my innocence!

Someone must have messed up the application with Wonga then. But that would say they had your account details as well as the debit card no.

You should have stuck out and asked for the fraud team on the 1st call.

missed them by 10 minutes! Because it was the bank whose systems all went down they couldn't confirm whether it was mine or oh's card initially. How long do debit cards take to arrive, should have been ordered Weds night

yes, but since the card was cancelled, no way to get cash. Lets hope they have an alternative bank account or they don't need cash.
