Does a transfer from one branch of a Building Society to another branch of the same Building Society show up as an 'internal transfer' on your statement ?

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I wouldn't have thought funds would/could be designated to individual branches?Stompa0

? I think I'm being a little think not understanding your reply Stompa, sorry !
A buyer has paid for his item via Bank Transfer. My account is showing this transaction as 'internal transfer'. Usually I would see a name or other reference ? I'm just wondering whether this is the case because he banks wit the same building society, albeit in a different part of the country.0 -

Yes. There's no reason for the money to pass through the BACS system, so it will be handled internally - and, often, instantly.0 -
Hmmm why post this question on the Grab it board? The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0

It's not the branch to branch bit that matters but the account to a different account whithin the same bank/building society. With the Halifax, transfers like this just show up as "transfer" and could be from another one of your own accounts, an account at the same branch as you or a branch up the other end of the country. They are instant though and don't go through BACS.0

Don't worry, it's me being dim! For some reason I thought you were talking about some sort of transfer between two of your own accounts.Stompa0
