When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning Folks,

Thought I'd start the thread today as its a Monday and I need all the motivation I can get :o

Back to work after a busy weekend :j :j :j (perhaps one more for motivation :j)

Hugs to those that need them :grouphug:, welcome to all new members :hello: and hi to all the regular posters :T

Today I have/will:
  • Meals from stores
  • Checked banking
  • Use weekly pass to get to work
  • Will take a coffee from home for the journey
  • Will read paper online and the freebie paper on the train
  • Need to pay some cash into my account
  • Need to have an early night as I am a bit tired

Think that is about it for me today

Take care all
Candy xxx

    Morning! Thanks for starting Candy!

    I also have to be good this week. Went on a bit of a spending spree this weekend so need to get back on track. The quicker I pay off debt, the quicker I can get a deposit.... Just need to keep thinking that.

    My spending limit this week is £25... Going out for dinner with friends tonight so will spend the majority then... Must be good for rest of week.

    List:
    • DONT eat all my lunch on the train (I'm tempted lol)
    • Check bank
    • Lunch from home
    • Drink lots of water
    • Don't go to the shop at lunch
    • Meet friends tonight for dinner - don't spend too much
    • Check onepoll
    • See if there are any topcashback free offers!
    • Find out when credit card direct debit is coming out... Work is paying expenses on Friday but thinking direct debit is coming out before then...
    • Put washing away tonight

    At least I have a night off studying tonight. My brain is full as did about 4 hours worth last night! Back on it again tomorrow tho!

    Hope you all have a lovely day xxx

    Stayed over at my parents last night after Mother's Day - has saved me a little money in not needing the heating or hot water on in my flat up til about 4pm today.

    Also, my mum has promised whatever I want for breakfast - so not depleting our rations. I'm opting for French toast :)

    Leaving my car on the drive and walking the 9 miles home. Have an appointment here tomorrow eve so will be walking back here tomorrow and then will collect it.

    When I get home, OH will still be away for another few days so cooking for one tonight.

    Plus it is an NSD :D

    Hope everone has a good (DFW) day and a great start to the week.

    Morning guys :wave: thanks for starting us off Candy! Candy your lists have got smaller?!

    The Boss you walk miles & miles & miles! You must be super fit! Should inspire me to walk more....

    MinnieMousesMummy hope you're feeling better now x

    Well today is going to easily be a NSD for me as I am currently in bed. I hurt my back yesterday - not entirely sure how I was sitting at a table eating dinner with my ex-mil and suddenly I had pain in my lower back. Its just been painkillers, laying still & hotwater bottles since then! :(

    So my DFW things for today:
    * [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]change all dd's over to new 123 acc[/STRIKE] doing currently & using saynoto0845.com to get free phone no.s - done phew that took ages!
    * all meals from stores
    * NSD
    * check onepoll
    * catch up on eastenders on iplayer
    * maybe plant some seeds if I can get up and about
    * [STRIKE]check cc statement to see if payment went through [/STRIKE](paid it FPO 8pm on Friday & payment day was Sat. What do you think Alley would it have gone through?) arrrrghhhhhh! I didn't do it in time so that means a £12 late fee and 2 months off not being able to use it.....
    * [STRIKE]check TCB/Quidco [/STRIKE]
    * apply for 0% cc for stoozing funds
    * do a job search and start an application closing Friday

    Think that is it. Hopefully will be recovered by the end of the day! x

    Morning everyone!

    Well, I managed to not spend any money in a supermarket all weekend :j
    I did however buy 4 lovely rolls and a pack of potato scones from the local shop, but honestly, if I'd went to MrT's I'd have spent a whole lot more :)

    Still not heard anything about possible new job. Got to the point where I have talked myself out of taking it if I get offered it :o Sigh, don't know what to do for the best.

    Just checked the bank, my credit card was sitting at £2600.38. So I've paid 40p so balance is now £2599.98, seems MUCH smaller now :rotfl:

    It's my nephew's birthday today. Totally forgot about it, so will buy a cheap card and stick £10 in it :o Also had a gift set left over from christmas that DH gave to his mum yesterday for mothers day, saved buying flowers from the petrol station lol

    Need to check onepoll, meet swagbucks target, check competitions board and freebies
    Spend as little as possible today, need some lunch cos I didn't make anything last night (naughty zepsgal!!)

    Have a good day y'all!
    Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    Hi everyone. My birthday today so have another "date" tonight. It's also her birthday on Wednesday, but we're just having the one meal and she has offered to pay to repay me for Valentines Day. I shall do the gentlemanly thing and offer to at least pay half though. Not sure where we're going, but I've not had a good weekend on the weight loss front so I cant eat too much.

    Had my stepmother down for the weekend as a combined Mothers Day/my birthday weekend so ate and drank a few too many bad things, and have gained 2 lbs on the Monday weigh in :mad:

    Today I have/will
    Checked online banking. £13 left in there til I get paid on Friday, but I got money from my stepmother for my birthday so no risk of going overdrawn
    Was a bit late setting off for work due to opening my presents, so had to drive part way to the station to avoid being late, but I parked a little way away and walked the rest of the distance
    Read free paper
    Charge phones at work
    Brought salad and yogurt from home for lunch
    Take advantage of free coffee and water at work

    Hugs to dnms (but only gentle ones to avoid hurting her back even more), and to anyone else who needs them.

    Have a great day everyone
