Date of birth on car insurance

I have just got a quote from Aviva for my car insurance it came to £340 pounds for the year. I then checked quidco and noticed £70 cash back so I cleared all my cookies etc and re did the quote but this time it came to £443 for the year I could not understand it so I went to my saved quote from earlier and noticed I entered my date of birth incorrectly on the first quote. It was out by one day!!!!!:mad:
My question is this how on earth can insurance cost £103 pounds more for being 1 day younger surely this is not right or fair? What can I do?

More likely to be the quotes through Quidco are loaded to pay for your cashback. Once you'd got your quidco quotes and I assume not cleared the cookies it' requoted using the load for quidco business

No I then tried it on a different PC without going through quidco and it came back £103 more expensive it's a problem with the date of birth

If you keep on requoting, changing the data, you are going to see potential fraud markers added to your account.

Insurers are wary of people carrying out multiple quotes changing the input data, as they assume you are creating a scenario to get better premiums, while witholding the truth.

We've seen cases on here where members who messed around on quote sites got calls from their insurers demanding higher premiums because of fictitious convictions they added to a quote just to see the impact on their premiums if they were to be done for speeding etc.

Insurers do intentionally adjust premiums on a semi-random basis to enable them to do pricing sensitivity testing and thus enable them to calculate what impact a proposed pricing change will have.

To enable statements like 10% off online to be true the assignment to full price or a discounted or loaded price cannot be truly random and must use something that is consistent as the seed for the randomisation. A few insurers use postcode, I dont know what Aviva uses but it could well be DoB or birthday

The other consideration is that I believe Aviva use credit score as a rating factor these days. An incorrect DoB would have impacted the credit score coming back and thus the results. That said, I doubt any insurer is putting that much weight on credit score.

Birthday would be the obvious candidate for price elasticity testing as it is something that lends itself to almost totally random segmentation of customers with no associated correlation to risk - eg splitting the rates by odd/even numbered days of birth - and it is something that is rarely "massaged" by customers.

As mentioned its because you did too many quotes.

The system thinks your trying to beat the system so quotes increase.

Do quotes with a different name/date of birth then only do the real quote when your ready to buy.

Clearing cookies and changing computers etc. Wont help as they already have your IP address also.
