Waitrose - Mothers Day Failure

Waitrose have failed to deliver Mothers Day flowers today. They are blaming CityLink and say they will deliver tomorrow - kinda missing the point - its not Mothers Day tomorrow!
They obviously have a general problem as i had 2 texts in the afternoon saying deliveries would be made up to 5pm. But didn't manage to tell me that the delivery had not been made, my poor mum had to tell me.
Then took 20 minutes to speak to some one in customer services.
I know its not the end of the world and mum will get the flowers & I'll get a refund but if a supposed quality retailer is offering a servce, I expect them to deliver. Its not like I picked a cheap 'mothersdayflowersrus' off the internet.
May be they should have used some of the recent bonus pot to improve their supply chain.

Can you cancel the order, as it is now no longer fit for purpose.
I would at least put a complaint in. Your Mum may get some complementary chocolates or similar.
And if they try and blame City Link, your order was with Waitrose not the delivery company.0 -
I think they need to 'sort out' their couriers as my Mum got her bulb bowl upside down. Bulbs were in the air and dirt was everywhere, then she spent at least half an hour complaining to us about it!0

I had the same problem including the two texts which made me think it was taken care of, very embarrassing when my mum didn't receive anything on Mother's Day!
I tried to get in contact via email but not getting a response, will try and call later. Really disappointed, I ordered from Waitrose as I expected good service!0 -
Rach31 - hope you manged to speak to someone, at least the customer service number is free phone. (0800 188 881)
My mum did get her flowers this morning (& they were fine despite the delay) and Waitrose have promised me a refund (I'll wait & see).
Just disappointed that such a supposed quality organisation have messed up. Probably won't risk it next time.0
