Capsicum annuum could be sown now, and if kept indoors, would produce ripe pods. If grown outside, once frosts have gone, you might get ripe pods. It depends on your weather, and the autumn frosts. Alternatively pick up a few plants from your local garden centre. If you have a greenhouse, then yes you should be okay.

I find a hydroponic system produces the best results with all varieties of capsicum, but it does tend to get a bit expensive.

I was given the tip about using a sprinkle of cinnamon powder around seedlings to stop green gunge or damping off. I grow all my seedlings in compost and don't normally bother too much except for the early tender stuff I will grow only a few of, like chilis, toms etc. Worked well for the chillis/peppers and toms. Now got a few more than planned lol. Once the GH is full will bang any spare in pots in nice hotspot at the front.

TBH this year I have the opposite issue in that I have too many seedlings that have survived-what can I do with 40 calabrese plants lol.

Regarding pots I was amazed when I posted on freegle how many replies I got and now have hundreds of pots and trays for free :). May be orth a shot as gardeners seem to be a generous bunch-or perhaps its the nice people up here, our freegle is a lovely group.
