Hi boat girl it's that fisher price on with the detachable front and the phone thing on the front, he's never had one that he sits in and he didn't have a bouncer either (he screamed every time I tried him in it as a younger baby).

I assumed the walker was a sit in one hence why I said it is not helping with walking or balance. My niece has the VTech push along walker with detachable front and phone on the front which I assume will be similar to the one your son has, it is very sturdy so is helping her walk along. She has been using it since I bought it at Christmas when she was 9 months old and loves it. I don't think she can turn it around yet but it will certainly be helping with balance and muscle strength.

    Hi all

Thanks for the comments you have all made, it's really nice to hear i'm not alone with a late developer! This week I have become a tough mummy! I have started getting reading in the morning 5 minutes earlier so I have time before nursery opens to walk down the path to the door with DS2. He managed the whole way down the path this morning, although it did take us about 10 minutes! Holding one hand aswell.

I'm looking forward to hearing what the doc has to say and what his weight is on thursday, I will be going armed with my food diary aswell!

I'll update you all once i've been :o
  • My son is 13 now. He does really well at school and is fine.

He didn't crawl until really late, in fact he didn't even roll over but just lay on his back - and then one day he just rolled over and crawled off just like that. He didn't walk until 13 months either - he did very little "cruising" around hanging onto the furniture but just set off one day.

He didn't talk at all well - he was fairly deaf due to repeated ear infections for around 6 months and missed out some crucial language stages - I had to concentrate on his speech by turning all the back ground noise off, getting down to his level so he could see me, and being really patient with what he was saying. He was about 3 years before he was talking in anything more than single words or short phrases.

He wasn't potty trained at 3 either - but learned quickly in around one week once he was finally ready to do it.

I do think that each child is 100% unique, some just take a little extra time with some of the things that they learn. If you are really worried your health visitor might be able to put your mind at rest.

    Hi All

Just a quick update - went to the paediatric outpatient apppintment yesterday, DS2 has put on 0.6kg since December and is following the lowest centile line nicely. The doctor seemed really happy with this, and said to keep going with the lactulose for his constipation.

He did say that we should stop giving him a full bottle of milk in the morning - explaining this could be filling him up and is why he's not eating massive amounts during the day - so we started him just on water in the morning today, and his face was a picture he looked in disgust at the water cup as if to say 'this isn't my milk' lol!

We are being re-refferred to the dietician to see if we can get extra calories into his diet. He is really trying much better with his walking i'm so pleased, we will get there eventually!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply, i'm feeling much better about things now! :T
