  • Good advice here. Thank you posters.
My question would have been from the buyers point of view.
I don't have a vehicle atm so travelling by public transport carrying £1,000s in cash does not appeal.
I shall use the Faster Payments system.
"All UK banks and building societies now send and receive faster payments. There are, however, varying limits in place depending on who you bank with and how you choose to send the money. "
PaymentsCouncil org (link facility denied by system)
    Some banks are listed there.

As a buyer, I would be very suspicious if the buyer wasn't at the address listed on the V5. It wouldn't be an absolute dealbreaker, but it would put me into 'triple check everything else' mode. I might even use it as leverage to offer a lower price.

As a seller, I wouldn't have a problem with buyers knowing my address unless I had somethign to hide. It might become a problem if you have lots of interested buyers coming and going and one of them ends up getting upset with the deal somehow.

All methods of payment, whether cash, cheque, bank transfer, Paypal or magic beans, have their risks. Cash may be counterfeit or miscounted. I believe bank transfers can be withdrawn from your account for all time if the bank believes it to be fraudulent, but I could be wrong on that. In reality, you can't go round assuming everybody is a criminal. They probably aren't.
