Now, call me suspicious but I can't help thinking there is something dodgey about this email, aside from the poor grammar and syntax.
Has anyone had one of these emails before, or shed any light on it?
Or am I being paranoid? ... I intend to reply tomorrow at some point anyway.

Yep, sounds dodgy to me. They will want you to ship it abroad, having sent a cheque in excess of the amount you want for the car and telling you to keep the difference.0

Do what I did when I was selling my car and got one of those, reply saying yes its available but its recently had some work done and you have to add another £2k to the price, I recieved a reply about how it was unfair but he still wanted the car and would match my asking price

It doesn't matter what price you say, they will agree to it. They will tell you someone owes them some money and you get sent a forged bankers draft, with a couple of thousand pounds extra for you to send to the buyer. Because the draft shows as cleared before being relised as a forgery, you will have sent the money and will have no comeback.

Cheers for the replies.
Think I'll just delete the email, or is it worth playing along and then submitting details to the UK authorities.
Or is it just a waste of time?0 -
Delete it.
Having just sold my motorbike via Biketrader, I had 5 or 6 of these, all with the same dodgy English. It's the Nigerian 419 scam.
Or if you want to have a bit of fun at their expense, by winding them up, take a look at https://www.419eater.com0 -
These scams seem to be growing by the day.I remember the good old days, pre internet ,when the crims.used to just steal your car on a test drive!!happy days.
There are two sides to every story.

Hi
Thanks, my brother is selling a car on autotrader at the moment and every interested party has originated from Ireland, they are a shipping agent and the car would be for a client in Switzerland. I smelled a rat and google'd "car buying scam" to find he was in the process of being scammed. So, 3 out of 3 contacts regarding the car have been fraudsters, this makes me think that this is a big problem for sellers and these 'scum of the Earth' must be making good money out of the scam. Also, the email is signed off with a mobile number - I believe this is actually a premium rate number0
