  • I'll probably get flamed for this.

Can the children live with their father until you're finished studying?

Can you live with your partner?

Would it not be sensible then to allow the children to stay with their father for the time being as that would give them some stability and would allow them to continue going to their school.

You would then be in a position to get a house share till your studies are completed and hopefully a FT job.

From what I have read I feel that is the easiest solution and then no one is homeless.

    Hiya...

I am continuing to look for privately rented houses and will see what happens.

In the meantime, the back up plan is to move into my partner's house-share for a month after my tenancy runs out and before her tenancy ends. Then we can get somewhere together over the summer when we can live with the children. She spends most of her time at my house anyway so pointless her paying rent sometimes.

It's not ideal for the children to live separately from me for the rest of my degree - that's three and a half years away yet. I wouldn't be able to have them overnight or take them back to mine if I was in a house-share (I can't imagine housemates would appreciate three children in the house!) so childcare would be a really expensive problem. I suspect my ex-husband would fight for sole custody of the boys too, which is not really what I want - as you can imagine.

I think I'll just have to plough on and try and get over each hurdle at a time. Saw a lovely cottage style house today which is in a great location for all the schools and Uni. Massive garden and great for the four of us. Just waiting to hear back from the letting agents about the student status and they suggested that I could have two guarantors which is an option. They were happy with paying the rent in advance though :)

Looking a bit more positive though :)
