Ford Fiesta USB Port Issues

Hello all,

I'm really hoping someone will be able to help me.

I bought an HP 8gb USB stick, so i can listen to music in my 2009 Fiesta.
The problem is, my audio system will play 5 to 45 seconds of one song, then the song will skip and the screen will say invalid file format! I then have to switch the engine off for it to play another 5 to 45 seconds of 1 song.

I've looked about on the internet to see if anyone else has this issue, but haven't really found anything.
The songs came from Amazon and they are all .mp3 files. The USB stick itself is formatted as FAT32 and all of the songs is in one folder.

I can play the songs through Amazon Cloud Player via Bluetooth, but that's a pain, as i have to turn the volume up to 20 or so to be able to hear the music! Then if i forget to turn it down before switching the engine off, when i switch it back on again, the radio will be so loud that it makes me jump!

Does anyone have any ideas?
I'm really frustrated!

Thank you!

MP3 but what about the bitrate etc?

Variable bitrates maybe the issue. It may only like a steady stream of data. So any parts with less music which gets compressed more and parts with lots of data gets compressed less. It may not like that.

Get a converter and try changing the formats.

My Hyundai will only accept FAT32 format within cerain limits. When you're formatting the usb stick, there is a section called 'allocation unit size' In my handbook, it says to set this within a certain range, rather than accepting the default setting. Might be worth a try?

Agree with forgotmyname above also, my car will only accept certain bitrates too.

May just be the USB stick: they are not all created equal.

Try putting one or two songs onto another stick and try that.

The OEM radio in my Nissan will only work properly with an extremely expensive (when new) old Sandisk Cruzer titanium that I have, a brand new Kingston and a Plextor become corrupt, lose nearly all the songs, and play the remainder with great bangs and thumps.

I would just stick the usb stick into a modern pc then right click it in my computer section and format it in NTFS which is the more modern file format then try again.
