Big Weddings or small weddings.

So why do people go for a big celeb style wedding that costs 20, 30, 40 thousand pounds?

I just do not get it, if you love someone enough to marry them then a few hundred pounds is surely enough to do that. However, people feel that if they have a huge costly wedding it makes it more special when in fact that just means the whole love thing is lot.

If you are the sort of person who gets lots of marrriage offers then great for you.

why do people have massive weddings? because they want to

if they have small weddings, its through choice as well

some may feel pressured by friends into having bigger and better weddings, but ultimately its their choice on the style of wedding, location, cost etc

    ...surely thats obvious?
One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

Only 5% of the eligible population give blood: do something amazing today, save a life, give blood
  • Go away phil, until you see the breakdown of how much a traditional wedding costs, you can't comment on this. Me and my gf have done a rough headcount of numbers for a future wedding - we can't get it below 110 without exclusing members of close family.

Weddings are big events. Sure, some people just invite friends to a small reception, but traditional weddings involve a lot of people, a lot of pomp and a lot of money

What is clear is a wedding should be about love and romance and togetherness.

Fair enough, but is a lot of pomp coming at the cost for some people the special meaning of marriage is lost?

  • You can have romance and togetherness on anywhere, a wedding is about a very public commitment to one another

Do you honestly think that if a lot of money is spent on a wedding, there is less special meaning? They may be no more than a simple event, but why would 'pomp' reduce the meaninfulness ?
