UK Breakdown Cover

Just received my breakdown renewal from The AA:
The AA upgraded me to Silver Membership which gives amazing benefits of:
(1) Accident Assitance which duplicates cover from my Insurer - boo!
(2) 24 hours of Breakdown Cover - whoopee!
(3) Family Associates Cover for Under 17s - slow farty whoopee!
(4) Legal Cover - duplicating car Insurer, bank current account and home Insurer - oh !!!!!!!
So I've done my bi-annual switch from The AA to the RAC. The RAC cost is £139.99 for equivalent cover, £60 Quidco and a possible £50 fuel card (they said that you don't get the fuel card if you go via a cashback site but it was still listed).
:money:
Note: I don't want/like Autoaid and the like because I think my travel circumstances differ to the norm.
Roadside £64.89
Home Start £58.24
Relay £61.01
Joint Cover £39.38
Total £223.53
Home Start £58.24

So I've done my bi-annual switch from The AA to the RAC.
I do exactly the same and for the same reason.
My AA renewal this year (also with the "upgraded" silver membership) worked out at about £75 more than equivilent RAC cover.
I used to phone up when my renewal doc's came and get the price down to the same as the new member introductory offer price, but I don't bother now as AA/RAC switching is easier.0 -
I use Tesco breakdown cover which I've generally found to be a good price for top level cover. They did use Green Flag, but I think the service is now provided by RAC. Barring Quidco deals, they have generally been much cheaper than AA/RAC when I've looked around every year.
The service was good the few times I've used them.
The main difference seems to be that the car is covered, rather than the person. This would be good if you have one car with two drivers.0 -
Just received our pan-European breakdown renewal from the ADAC.
Same price as last year, and the year before: €79.50 (£69, which is £4 more this year due to poor £/€ exchange rate).
No gold/silver/bronze upgrades. Boo!

It's time for me too, but the RAC fuel card is only offered when taking out a personal policy. I have vehicle cover as other family members occasionally use the car.
The AA used to bring the price down to match cashback deals. They don't do that anymore, but I was told if I wanted the cashback offer, I could just sign up as a new member. If that's their advice, why not offer it as a renewal. :wall:0 -
Autoaid is hard to beat on price and gets good reviews on here0

My breakdown cover is due to expire at the end of March so this has prompted me to make a few calls.
GreenFlag have just offered me Full UK Recovery Plus for all the family (4) in any vehicle under 16 years old for £143.10.
Not bad considering on the website is says available from £158.00.
Looks like I might be making the switch.0 -

I went with these guys. Of course how good they are depends on when you call them out which I haven't had to do yet but for the price it is well worth a go I think. Not seen anything negative on them at all. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Another phone call, and my insurers have now undercut the GreenFlag price for the same cover.

Could you update to say whether you get the fuel voucher?0
