Why is experian such a nightmare now?

Once upon a time you paid £2 for a paper version of your credit file, 5 days later it would come through the door. Job done.

Now, you order it, receive an email about a pin, don't receive it and then wait forever for a response to request another. Bit of a cheek considering they took their money 2 weeks ago.

Don't think I will be using them again. The noddle report asks for card details, is it safe?

I check noddle every month, they've never taken a penny. They just use your card details to verify your identity - or if you choose to use Noddle improve (don't).
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

The £2 paper report is a statutory right. Just order it by post. I would be interested to know if that does not work. It looks like you have got caught up in another offering which costs you more.

Having just taken a look at Experian's site, they are doing their best to hide details of how to get the £2 report. The only link I could find washttp://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/contact-us/index.html and search for "£2"
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
  • The Noddle report is nowhere as up to date as Experian is but yes its free, its up to 8 weeks late with certain creditors.

But I was applauded at the amount of time it took to get my statutory report once I paid for it.

Definitely use Noddle as it's free. It's not the most up to date and you get an update every 30 days. If you do need a more in depth report from all three, just order the £2 one. It may take longer, but it's exactly the same as what you get for a subscription.

I certainly wouldn't pay anything other than the £2 report from Credit Expert any more. I was subscribed with Experian at £14.99 and each time I've asked for help, I get the same reply copied and pasted to me. When you do email them for help, their replies contradict what the expert on this forum says.

    Noddle is safe.

I used Experian a while ago and it was a bit of a pain to wait for the pin code but it did come.

It's the same credit report I order every year, ordered in exactly the same way just this time they've sent me an email about a pin which hasn't turned up and neither has the credit report.

I will carry on chasing this up and give noddle a go.

    Thanks everyone.

This morning I've been going around in circles with Equifax, tried calling them gave join the end!!! I've never used call credit, and I do use Noddle!

I use Noddle too, as others say its not the most up to date but the customer service is good, I have had reason to dispute a few entries which is easy to do on the site, and they are quick to respond and resolve the queries. You can still order a paper copy from experian but as other posters say its not easy to find details on their website and I have found their customer service to be poor in comparison to Noddle.

We will always try to give people access to their credit report as quickly as possible, but we do sometimes need to take security measures, particularly where online access has been requested.

You can still request a paper report from us to be posted to your current address, as you have always been able to do. The link to order a statutory Experian report is quite clear on our home page, about half way down on the right. Just choose the postal option instead of online access as you progress the application.

Our Customer Support Centre helps 000s of people every week and receives some fantastic feedback. But I'm always keen to investigate any examples of unsatisfactory service and this is one of the reasons I regularly visit these forums.

  • I understand the security measures but with Noodle you can log in anytime, with Equifax you pay the £2 and get the report right after but with Experian you pay the £2 and wait 3 days for an email and then wait another week for a letter.

Why can't you just be e-mailed a new PIN each time you want to see your report?
