It was a new VW Golf I think, the thing is my husband phoned Diamond to make the claim ( as he was driving ) and they automatically referred us to Albany and didn't tell us, so we assumed Albany and this car were part of Diamond and our policy !
No idea where to go from here or where we stand, but I am finding it very hard to dispute etc when I wasn't even involved it was just my policy, and clearly now my debt :-(

You also need to find out why albany havent been paid. Whether it was disputed circumstances or whether the third party insurers purely failed to pay as they felt the costs were inacceptable. try and speak to Diamond again! probably best trying to speak to a claims handler than someone in customer services.

Sorry I haven't been on here for ages, I became quite unwell due to the stress, but this is what happened :
I receive many letters from DCA threatening, the final one was for court proceedings.
I made official complaints to Albany and Diamond, to only hear back from Albany, who took 1 day to investigate the matter, and stood their ground !
I then contact the ombudsman to deal with it all. Diamond ignored them so they went to the next stage with an adjudicator ( not sure what next step was )
Diamond contact me this week and I tell them I will not talk only email ( for proof ).
They email me to say Albany will no longer request reimbursment for the hire car off me !!
    Well that was easy !
I dont think they like the fact I fought back and got the Ombudsman involved.
Also the fact that its now been over 6 years since the so called signing of the hire agreement that I did not sign !
Anyway very happy, but still in shock at how easily they backed down.
Future reference I would advise getting the Ombudsman involved as that seemed to change everything.
Just thought I would let you all know the outcome eventually, so I can now move on with life.
Thanks all for your help :j
