That is what I mean, if, for some reason my husband was found at fault then, my insurance should have covered it. I'm thinking of just forwarding my Debt notice straight to Diamond to deal with it. I don't know what else to do :-(

You should have been notified that the Insurance Assessor had found against you. We were. Did you receive payment for the damage to your car?
The lady we hit contacted one of these 'no-win-no-fee' type of solicitors. Sorry, I can't remember their name.:hello:0 -
No our insurance paid it straight to who ever repaired the car. This was why we had the courtesy car ( that was on our policy ) for whilst my car was being fixed.
We have not heard from Diamond or Albany for nearly 3 years, until now when we receive this debt notice !0 -
We will seek legal Advice before we do anything I think. See what they suggest0

Okay.
Diamond paid the repair and provided the courtesy car. Then claimed that money off the other driver's insurance. At some point, probably to provide a credit car hire or to manage the claim, Albany got involved.
The other driver's insurance company paid out for the damage, but not for the credit car hire.
You need to talk to Diamond and refuse to pay. The reason we have insurance is to protect us from financial risk.
Did you have to pay any excess? In our case, because we were at fault and had hit another driver we didn't pay any excess.:hello:0 -

As far as I can remember we didn't pay anything, it was such a long time ago ( 5 years ):(0 -

Wise decision.
Try to find a solicitor that offers a 'free hour' consultation. Or visit the CAB.
If you decide to consult a solicitor and you get that free hour - do contact their secretary beforehand and tell them what the problem is. This allows the secretary to 'prep' the solicitor and you can get a little more for your 'free hour'.
I really feel for you. After the letter from the lady's solicitor I felt awful for her. It wasn't her fault and she was being strung out. Since then, I've told family and friends to avoid 'credit car hire' like the plague.:hello:0 -

Oh I have learnt the very same now , just hope it gets sorted. I do feel we are not liable for any of this, its what we paid the insurance for0 -
Update on my current Debt situation ..
I went to Shelter ( Charity but expert legal help ) and appointed them as a Third party, as I suffer with a brain injury and can't cope dealing with these people.
They sent Regal a letter asking for breakdown of the debt etc, heard nothing.
3 weeks later I receive another letter from Regal stating that they have not heard from me ( basically ignored the third party ) and if I do not pay in full immediately they will send out a field collector to my home to organise re payment !!
Firstly once I appoint a third party I didnt think they could contact me directly ?
Secondly, Can they really send a field collector out if I have no idea what it is for and they have not complied and given me a breakdown ?
I am not functioning with my life at the moment, because the last thing I need with my medical condition, is to have someone knocking on my door !
What do I do now ?
I have spoken to Shelter who are looking into it, but any advise is welcome right now :-(0
