Getting a refund onto a paid-off credit card

Hi all,

I've been using a credit card to pay for small purchases, paying off the balance in full...just to build a credit history.

My question is:

I am due a refund for some tickets for a cancelled event, which will go back onto my credit card. My balance is currently so low that once I get this refund, I'll be in credit...how does this work?

I know it's probably an obvious answer, but I really don't know the answer as I'm new to credit cards.

It will show up on your statement and will reduce the amount to pay on forthcoming purchases until it has been used up - just think of it like another bank account - but its usually in the red till you pay it off each month. Yours will be in the black till you spend some more on it.

Although they charge you interest if you owe them money - they will not pay you interest for having them owe you money while this balance sits in your card - sorry !

Or even better ask them to refund back to the account that you use the pay it from.
