Which Bank and Which Account

Hi Folks, I'm from Northern Ireland, so alot of the banks usually mentioned are not available here bar the big ones.
I have £11,000 in a basic Bank of Ireland current account which offers very little interest if any
What would be the best type of accounts to put this into. I would like to keep a few thousand in an easy accessable account incase of emergencies
Thanks

If you can access Northern Rock they are paying a good rate on an easy access account, i.e. 5.71%gross. There are a some others paying close to that amount too. If you click on the SAVINGS & INVESTMENTS on the left hand side of this page you can read Martin's ideas about the best instant access accounts and then check if they are available in NI.0
