pram advice

I'm hoping that someone out there can help out with some advice.
I'm shopping for a pram for my daughter who is having a baby in the summer:j
I'm looking for a 'travel system' that can cope with regular flights, multi terrain and obviously is light and easy to handle.
I've been reccommended this and this

The pram needs to be able to take a car seat.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Out of the 2 I'd opt for the Jane because it can lie flat, Car seats are bad fort he O2 levels of young babies. Neither is suitable for flights unless you like wasting money as they could get trashed.

Try the search function. This gets asked almost every week.

  • I've got the Jane matrix and while I absolutely love that it lies flat in the car, it's really, really heavy especially with my 4 month old in it now. Now, I very rarely use the pram out and about as its such a faff to get it out the car so I use a wrap sling. It's fantastic, baby is close and cosy and I've got my hands free to do other things. I can't believe how much I spent on it when I should've just bought the matrix cup for the car and not the chassis. I might use it more when I can use the pushchair bit. Here's hoping.

Get an uppababy vista. Fits your criteria perfectly. It takes the maxi-cosi carseats and, unlike bugaboos, you don't have to pay extra for the adapters. They're included in the price.

    Hi.

If you're looking at Multi Terrain then I would be looking more to the Jane Trider than the Rider. The wheels on the Rider are too small and 3 wheeler will always be superior to a 4 wheeler off road. Similar weight wise and looks, but feels a lot smoother to push and will handle rough terrain a lot better and pneumatics but no punctures! Personally I would opt for the Formula package which gives you the Transporter carrycot and the Strata. The Transporter is a lot lighter than the matrix and is a lot deeper so better for overnight use. It is also safer than the Matrix (according to Which) and was a Best Buy in 2011 (has been updated to make it easier to fit) The Strata is one of the safest seats on the market and you have the flexibility of the two seats as opposed to the Matrix which takes up a lot of space even when rear facing. Anyway if you are buying Jane - Do NOT buy online. Trust me, go to a store as they will be able to offer a better deal and you might want to hang on to April/May if you can when the new range will be available.
With regard to the Bugaboo - it is a good system, but seriously can you justify that sort of price on something that is frankly beaten hands down by the likes of the Trider and Uppababy Vista as previously mentioned.
With regard to travel systems, personally I wouldn't touch the Maxi Cosi seats with a barge pole. They do very well isofixed but are very questionable belt fixed. The seating positions are not good either. If you want a seat that fits the same travel systems I would personally look at the Cybex Aton 2 or the BeSafe Izi Go both of which are much better performing all round seats.
But, and I can't emphasise this enough, with prams, what is good for one person is not good for another, you really need to go and try them out. Most independents will usually be able to match online prices and sometimes offer a better deal. You will also get much better aftercare when things go wrong.
