Fraudulent Whiplash Claim! What can I do??

Hi All,

I had an accident a couple of months back and despite the fact that the third party have lied throughout, my insurance have admitted liability because a "witness" (who was clearly known to the other guy) came forward.

Now the third party is making a personal injury claim for 3 people but there wasn't even 3 people in his vehicle.

The whole thing has been dodgy and for me this is the final straw. My honesty has got me nowhere and all my insurance company do is tell me they 100% believe me but feel there is nothing they can do.

Is there anything I can do about this because its clearly a fraudulent claim? Or is it just a case of putting it down to experience?

Any advice appreciated!

Who are your insurers? More and more now are passing such cases onto the fraud department, they may not let you know that in case you prejudice the case should the third party make contact with you, and you blab ;).

We've had a few, whilst although it is a fault claim, if you were prepared to go to court (and it's surprising how many can't be bothered), to state there was only one person, not three etc. it would really help to stamp this out. It could also be that the person you hit is part of a crash for cash ring, so they are playing along but joining up the dots behind the scenes.

Usually, they will present a badly worded fraudulent medical letter (google translate), and then your insurers will invite them to a medical practitioner of their own for a second opinion, and you won't see them for dust.
  • Thanks for your reply.I'm insured with Tesco but it doesn't seem to matter how many calls I make protesting the whole thing they just don't seem interested. I spoke to a lovely girl from there the other day who understood my frustration but even so was unable to help any further.
It just doesn't seem fair that people can get away with this :-(

    Maybe go the IFB directly

Quote the Tesco claims ref, so they can liaise with your insurers.
  • Thanks so much for that! I will call my insurers on Monday one last time and if all else fails will go straight to the IFB. Had no idea they even existed until your post so thank you :-)
