Thanks. The late payments on the accounts are at least some 3 years ago now so based on the above I feel happier.
I am at the moment questioning one of the accounts with call credit as it shows me owing £6 for 7 months. I have no recollection of owing this mere amount of money. I contacted the company myself and they told me the info had been entered on there behalf by a third party company, probably debt collector. I admit some years ago I did have problems paying bills but £6 looks like an error to me.
I don't have a problem with the information being accurate and up to date but when it's not then it shouldn't be on the system.
I don't know what I could put as a notice of correction?0 -
The reasons why it happened and what you did to put it right. If the creditor logged it incorrectly, you can state why you think that and how you complained to have it corrected.I am a mortgage broker. Ok I'll wait for the correspondence to come back, hopefully telling me what records they hold and act on that.
BTW you started today early....0 -
Hi,
We had a similar problem with a six payment late marker on my partners credit file. If the six payment late markers were first entered over six years ago then you would have been better having it initially entered as a default then it would have dropped off your file by now. I would check the dates these were first entered and if they were entered that long ago then you could contact the appropriate company to get them changed. It's important though that you confirm that it was over six years ago ( or near to it).
It's basically unfair to continually enter a six payment late marker on your file rather than a default as this extends the length of the negative impact on your file.
Check this thread out as it has some good info regarding six payment late markers.

Thanks.
Unfortunately, I settled the account after the 7 months showing 6 late payments. It's due to drop off my report in 2 years. Don't know how significant this will be to a mortgage lender but I'm sceptical.0 -
BTW when I say the above I'm quoting from the report, as in essence I dispute this information.0

I'm not sure on the mortgage front but I'm sure somebody like Kingstreet would be able to give you some excellent advice.
Did you pay a agreed amount with your creditors during the period the six months markers were entered ?0 -
I believe so, it's that long I don't remember. But I find it very difficult to ever envisage leaving just £6 outstanding.
Apparently though this is not a default, so happy with that....0 -
The company is a payday loan company BTW0

What annoys me is that the account was settled apart from £6 owed, showing up to 5 late payments. According to them it was the £6 owed which extends the period for a further 7 months. I note from another post other people complaining about a company purposely extending the period so that it would push people into a default.0
