    I had this question a couple of years ago. I rang the number on the back of the card and they transfered them to my card. They were also very kind and sensitive.

    Very surprised about this, as the person you spoke to broke Data Protection Law. To change any details, the card-holder needs to be spoken to.
    Obviously, in the case of someone who's deceased - that's not possible. Hence Clubcard need something in writing.
    After all, otherwise the 'card-holder' could be the subject of a practical joke. So if CC do something at someone's request and then a short time later the card-holder calls -- then what.

    Moreover, if its in regard to a Credit Card - it's a letter to both!
