do parsol base work well as washing line bases?

Need to get a freestanding washing line as neighbour complained about the washing lines pinned onto the fence.
I google some "freestanding" washing lines and noticed that very few use the weighted parsol bases. I would have thought that would be a better choice than just have wide legs..
Anyone got any experience with this?

Who owns the fence?
Can't you use the other side?
Why not just get a post?0 -

the garden is mostly paved, has some like strips on the side for vegtable patches so can't really use a dig in post.
not sure who ones which fence, but I would assume that I would only own one, so in any case I'd need both sides to put up a washing line.0 -
So you have it on one side and there isn't a problem?
How about running it from the house to that fence then?
Or find out which fence your parents own.0 -
We used a heavy metal parasol base, it was ok if it was not too windy and light washing, but wind and towels etc would blow it over so we used to prop chairs at the bottom.
We have now moved and have one cemented in the ground.0 -
Hiya, I have both types of line. A long line and a triangle one. Lots of daily washing here.
The triangle one, I have in a sun umbrella base and threaded through a garden table. I think because it is through the table centre it is quite stable. Never blown over with regular use.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Brabantia do one that attaches to the house. It then folds flat to the house when not in use.

What about either of these:

Get one of these: Fence Base Bolt it to your pavement and put a 3" x 3" post in it then run your washing line from this to the wall of your house."Nil Sine Labore" - Nothing Without Labour0
