sign off the day before the job starts as you do not need to tell them before BUT you still must look for work in the meantime (temp job or something) to qualify for JSA.hi,not sure if i`ve posted this into the right area, but i`ve a question i`m hoping someone can help with.

You are not entitled to any help as you have not been out of work long enough but you could apply for a crisis loan to help out but from what I hear that could be as little as £10-£40 which probably will be no good to anyone.
what clothing do you need to buy? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hate to say this but you are on your own. There used to be back to work grants but they stop this month.
I remember a few years back after being made redundant and then finding a job 35 miles away after less than a month, I asked for help with travelling costs and was told by the advisor "why dont you buy a diesel car like my golf, they are really good on fuel" Numpty. I really struggled for the first month.
For clothing I would seriously try charity shops, not ideal but would tick you over. I've picked up some good gear in the past.Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.0 -
The OP would not be entitled to the grant anyway as they have only been claiming 1 month till nowHate to say this but you are on your own. There used to be back to work grants but they stop this month.

Having said that I can not believe (just checked https://www.gov.uk/job-grant ) they are stopping it.
No one would be able to afford to get a job let alone live till they get paid and the only advice the JC have is ask for a sub!!We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Why are you borrowing clothes? You have nothing to wear to a job? Really? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
ian-do you have friends that live close to where you will be working?
Could you stay with them during the week, and come home weekends, just for the 1st month?0 -
yes a month, why should i not be allowed to say i`d rather be working than going to the job centre, and yes a month out of work is long enough for ME.
And yes REALLY i have clothes thanks, but not enough of the right attire for the four weeks training course, but thanks for your opinion0 -
Calm down!! Think or all the people who are worse off having to face it there for months and years on end.yes a month, why should i not be allowed to say i`d rather be working than going to the job centre, and yes a month out of work is long enough for ME.

What is the right attire for a training course? Ask the new job for an advance then. Or if you need speacialist clothes for the training then maybe the compant should provide. We’ve had to remove your signature. I think it is a shame that they have stopped the job grant because when you start a job, benefits get stopped and you have to work a month in hand. It's difficult and a real juggling act with the bills let alone expenses to work. I can only suggest ringing mortgage/rent people and utilities suppliers and explain the situation. Maybe you could have a payment holiday and then do catch-up when the wages start coming in. Job center do some type of crisis loan but how easy/difficult to get I don't know. Perhaps another poster could help with this one.0
