I know a basic ebay shop is £6 per month (thats what i use)0

So does that cover all fees etc??0

TBH, ebay business accounts are a joke, I thought that I would do things properly, register with ebay and paypal as a business, to find out months own the line that it has zero impact and zero credibility to your business.
The only discernable "benefit" is that you can list on express! (whoopie -doo).
you don't even have to prove that you are legitimately in business, and "anyone" can have a merchant account with paypal, which I find quite shocking.
The £6 a month is purely for the shop, you pay to list everything, cheaper listing fees but much higher fvfs."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
Is it worth having an ebay shop if your items are quite low price? I'm looking into setting one up but my items will all be less than a tenner.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 027

Hi there, yes and no - the listing fee for items of £9.99 are 5p for 30 days, the gallery (essential, I think) for an item of that price is also 5p for 30 days and your final value fee will be 89p when it sells, if I have my maths right.
So you just need to do a bit of market research and make a few assumptions and guesstimate how many months you'll be paying 10p out before it sells, if it's as long as 10 months + your FVF will mean that it's cost you almost £2 to sell it, plus your shop fees of course.
It's free for 30 days so why don't you give it a go? I love my shop, I've 'decorated it' done some 'shop fitting' with layout & features etc, got a nice logo and filled it with 400+ items, I still sell auction items in order to bring my buyer to me but it seems to be about 50/50 shop & auction sales at the moment.
I love my shop so much I've just opened another selling different items so I now have 2 areas of sales with 2 totally different identities and styles.0 -

you're obviously doing better than me then, haven't had a shop sale in nearly a month and I am still waiting for payment for a £100 + sale:mad:
I have got lots of listings running with very strong sign posts to my shop, but no buyers.
only had one sale this week from listings too. I wonder if there's just too much competition in the toy categories? Even my best seller, which I could rely on to sell 5 - 7 a week, now has someone else selling them:mad: and undercutting me in the process! they must be practically giving them away.
On a more positive note, we have a brand new website, went live yesterday, so will be looking to go in that direction."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
think that the difference between my items and yours is that new items are much more likely to have more competition, a lot of my items are so old that they are not being made any more so the scarcity factor helps me along.
I don't envy anyone selling new products, it maybe easy in the respect that the seller doesn't have to keep writing new descriptions and taking new photos (I have to do 40 new descriptions and photos each week) as it's just a quick relist when a sale is made.
The downside is that there is always someone ready to get hold of exactly the same item and do some pushing and shoving to get noticed
I think that you said that you have some outdoor events to sell at? I'm sure that on those days I'll be sat at home complaining that people have taken their money out of the house - that is my BIG summer whinge - and you'll be thinking the exact opposite!0
