I'm due to be moving into a new place with the missus soon (not new but new to us ..... and soon hopefully)
So we will be taking over the BT line there but getting the number changed.
I would like to take onetel up on there free calls and £20 offer but i've read about if you use another carrier for some calls then in Onetels T&C they can up your charges?
Can i sign up for onetel and just use there access number rather than CPS?
sorry if this has been asnwered i have searched and not found a clear answer.
thanks

Only BT have to allow you to use another carrier but in practice both onetel and talktalk do allow it as i have been with them and used 18866 throughout my time with both.

If you know your new number before the end of the month, sign up for the OneTel current offer* (LeisureUKTalk free for a year) to get free evening and weekend calls to UK 01/02 numbers for a year. That's a Carrier PreSelect service so there's no access code for them (i.e. if you don't dial a prefix like 18866 or 1899, your calls will automatically go out on OneTel). They're not offering that deal on anything other than CPS but that's not a problem.Tomlewis007 wrote:I'm due to be moving into a new place with the missus soon (not new but new to us ..... and soon hopefully)

* I'd suggest you DON'T take up their £9.99/month line rental offer for the sake of the 51p saving (IMHO, there's more chance of them enforcing a 'use us for all your calls' T&C if you're renting the line from them as well).Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -

I am with onetel.
You just sign up as normal with onetel then use 18866 during the day. Evening and weekend calls are free but you must ask for 'leisure talk'. That way you don't have any bills with onetel and you pay your line rental to BT.
My onetel bill was 87p this month as I exceeded the £20 they credited me with. However, I'll not have a bill from them next month.
Hope this helps you Tom.

So long as you pay line rental to BT then it doesn't matter who or how many other companies you use. You could use OneTel, TalkTalk, Call18866 & Call1899 all at same time and nothing can be done to stop you.
Only if you decide to pay your line rental to OneTel (or any other company apart from BT) can they stop you from using other companies or charge you a higher fee.
OFCOM rules clearly state that you can still use as many companies as you want. For example, like using OneTel for free evening/weekend calls and using Call18866 during daytime. OneTel or Call18866 can not stop you unless you decide to pay your line rental to another company apart from BT.
As mentioned by Edinburghlass, please sign-up via Martin's Thread. This makes no difference to the offer OneTel are doing and you are still entitled to the £20 call credit for signing-up online, and you are helping keep this site ad-free, sponsorship free and free to use so we can all benefit from it.0 -
Thanks for clearing that up everybody.
So ill stick with BT Option 1 £10.50 a Month
One.tel Leisure Talk Free Weekend Calls Free for a year
then use my Orchid to dial 02 + 01 numbers 18866 during the day and through ontel(no prefix) during evenings and weekends.
great

I don't know what you mean by Orchid, but with Onetel Leisure Talk, you just put in the prefix 18866 [or 1899 if you use that one too] through the day.0 -

Make a note in your diary to change (online) to OneTel's StandardUKTalk* after 12 months - that'll mean you'll retain free weekend calls and still not pay OneTel any monthly fee.
