What you can do, if you're still in the age bracket and haven't had the visa before, is apply for a working holiday visa. This will allow you to visit, holiday and work for part of the time. It is quite restrictive however, as in you can't work in the same job for the entire time you're there. If you work rurally however, you may be allowed to apply for a second working holiday visa.

The best thing to do is to go here http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/, answer all questions correctly and see what your options are

Just so you know, being sponsored can be a long hard bumpy route. It's not easy (in most cases) and it's not a fact of just saying to a company 'please take me on' and them saying 'yup' ! :-)

Don't forget to go to the British Expats forum (once you've done your research) and ask questions there, very very knowledgeable people http://britishexpats.com/forum/
  • I've had a good look around and I'm going to apply for the working Visa for 1 year initially, do the 3 months agriculture (or construction based) and then do another year if I like it.

I'm 30 this May, and I have until my 31st birthday to apply, so it says online.

My sister lives out there and said I could run my graphic design in her name as she will be a citizen soon, not sure if that's legal though, and would never want to get her in trouble. But it's something I can look into and consider.

I'm just renewing my passport now as it runs out in September, and then I can apply for the working visa which I can use within 12 months of it being granted.

Just got to talk to the boyfriend now.. I don't think he'll want to come, so could be tricky..

Anyhow, 7 more weeks of University and I will know more after that.

Thanks again for all the help!

yes, that is what I was saying above about working visa with a possible extension for rural work. Just make sure you do everything by the book. I cannot stress seriously enough how the Aussie Immigration is very strict and they have seen it all before. Not saying you would, however many many others have tried to fool the immigration by saying they worked on farms etc.., and falsified records. Please please don't do this - you will only be banned from even visiting Australia let alone opening a business there.

Also as mentioned, if you want to go down this route speak to a Mara registered immigration agent (I gave all the links above) Get all the facts, do it the right way and follow all the rules to the letter. Be prepared for A LOT of paperwork!

Do have fun tho, it's an amazing country!
