Insurance renewal charge

I have been charged an insurance renewal charge of £25 because I did not inform the insurer, Swiftcover, that I would be going with someone else.
I did not receive any email or letter to say that this charge would be made if I did cancel. Had I received this I would have contacted them at that time to cancel.
After a year it is hard to recollect if there is a charge or not and with so many different insurances to take out it is difficult to recall them all. They have said that it is in the terms and conditions on page 17 of 41.
Is there any way I can refute this charge?
Thanks
Kevin

Strictly, if it is in the terms and conditions they can charge it.

However, if you complain that it was never made clear to you and you will go to FOS if they do not waive it they probably will, albeit grudgingly.
