That is not the constant use I referred to.

really good for small loads, wheelbarrow full at a time
but as said if you are doing a big path, i'll get a cement mixer lorry to delievy ready mix, they can often pipe it to where you need it

No, but it's still a good indicator of their toughness for the people who post on here.

If this is a 1 off then it has to be ready mix, only last week we had 1.1mtrs delivered, the costings were £128 for the materials to self mix, or £165 delivered, To mix that would take 2 diy folks the best part of a day and the cost of the mixer, for £37 it ain't worth it.

Also, if doing a fair sized area with a mixer the stuff you mixed earlier has gone of while you are still mixing further down the path, makes finishing very difficult as the last bit is still too wet when you pack up for the day.

That said, if your intention is to potter about over a period of weeks then minimix isn't an option as delivery rules it out. Also a hire mixer isn't a viable option over that period.

Under those circumstance I would buy a cheap new mixer off ebay, they aren't expensive, probably about the same as 2 or 3 weeks hire, then either sell it on at little loss or keep it.

There is another option if you have a mate with a tipper, go to the cemex or similar depot, sat am seems best around here, you can get the over mixed stuff at a giveaway at times.;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • Thanks for all the additional replies. We fully understand that having a delivery of ready mix is the best way forward, but we're totally out in the sticks that it's not viable.

We've decided to go with a Belle mixer - electric. Hopefully it won't take the lifetime of the mixer to get the path laid! It can all be done a bit at a time it's not a problem and we've manpower.

Thanks again for all your help

Not for any good reason. It was fine where it was.

    - I see what you mean now.
