Buying/leasing a Hyundai ix35
Hi,
I'm looking at getting a new IX35 and was going to go with Lings - quoted £278 pm for 3 years lease on a diesel.
I just looked at the drivethedeal website and they are offering £3500 off a new petrol one (which I'd need to get a loan for). They have not got the diesel one listed.
The local Hyundai garage have offered the diesel version at a reduction of £1000 down to £17500. I didn't get a finance quote as I can't bear sitting and being brow beaten!
So........ has anyway come across a good way of getting one of these? My budget is around £270 per month and I am guessing that a lease is the way to go. But then I see that you can actually get some decent enough discounts and so wonder whether I should buy and get a loan???
Help!

If you want to buy you can do better than £1k off list price. Broadspeed, for example, lists a 1.7 diesel style with nearly £3k off list.
How you want to finance the car and what "loss" you are prepared to make on it at the end is really up to you.
If you are buying it appears your £270 a month isn't enough to do it in 3 years so you aren't exactly looking at like for like.
Is the insulation of the cost of the loan going to offset the "discount" you are getting off buying the car?
Leasing a car you don't have to pay for the road tax annually (typically) so that is a cost you don't have to consider.0 -
Your lease will cost £10,008 in payments over three years, if you were to buy one for £17.5k and sell it after 3 years would it cost you more?0

Leasing for 3 years = you wont own it after paying £10,000
If you buy it then it may cost more initially but you own it afterwards.
Or do you just want to rent a new car every few years and never own one?
Look at a slightly used one. Under a year old with barely any miles and save a lot more.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks everyone.
I have about £1000 to put down - and have seen couple of sites with £3500 off the list price....so about £15,000 for the diesel.
As the Hyundai has a 5 year warranty I started to think about having a car for that period. TBH I just want something new and under warranty.
I keep trying to figure out what it would be worth after 3 years. I'm not sure whether it would be 'worth' the balloon payment.
