Painfully slow Sky BB

Options
Sky is apparently undergoing issues due to running out of capacity. Apparently my exchange isn't one of the affected ones.

My issue is I have to reboot my router repeatedly to get decent speeds.

Earlier today I had-
Ping 502 ms (yes 502)
D/l 0.32 Mbps
U/l 0.48 Mbps

After a reboot of the router I got-
Ping 32 ms
D/l 9.40 Mbps
U/l 1.58 Mbps

And it's just plummeted again to-
Ping 52 ms
D/l 0.32 Mbps
U/l 0.48 Mbps

I have tried changing the channel on the router, I've done a full reset of the router. The computer is clean with a fresh W8 install done only a few weeks ago.

Ideas at all??

Cheers!

Post your full router line statistics.

Dunno if this will be readable....

    Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 17396 kbps 1022 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 dB 9.9 dB
Noise Margin 7.9 dB 7.5 dB

    Edit-
Well I laid it out better than that but the forum is messing with the formatting.

So you are linking with the exchange at just over 17Mbps.
Your downstream noise margin of 7.9 db suggests that rebooting the router would give you aslightly higher speed, but I would not bother.
I suggest to note the up time of the connection and redo the stats again say tomorrow to see if there have been any drop outs.

You could run a monitor programme like routerstats lite to check if the connection is intermittent.

If you connect your PC with Ethernet and run a speed test what do you get?

For comparison this is how router stats and a speed test compare on my set up.

    and the underlying stats...
    Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9214 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 43.5 dB 25.4 dB
Noise Margin 6.1 dB 11.11 dB

    Hi.

    Thanks for the reply.

Ethernet gives same-ish results. No significant variation.

So those stats advise that my connection to the exchange is fine. Does that suggest that it's therefore a Sky problem beyond my line to the exchange? Or something else? (sorry not too wise on these matters)

    Cheers.

Looks like a network problem , I did have a couple of instances a month or so back when the router reported the connection as being fine but I had not internet connectivity. Never got to the bottom of it.
I'm running on a W8 machine, and use the SR101 hub.
Might be worth posting on Sky's twitter feed, see what they suggest.
