Insurance Non Standard Construction.

I am looking for some advice please on insurance for what the Dodo Brigade call Non Standard House Construction. (timber frame construction.) I have spent quite a bit of time talking to the brain dead in insurers call centres, one asked me if the house was fixed down or could it be moved around, another insisted the local pond was a "watercourse". I am not looking for the very cheapest on the market which is where all search sites want to send me but for a reliable efficient insurer handling this type of policy.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

I would've thought timber frame is a fairly standard construction.

Which insurer were you looking at?

All insurers consider anything other than brick, block ,concrete, wattle & daub , to be non standard construction ! Initially I was looking at Swinton as they were mentioned in the Telegraph, that is until I read their customer reviews.

Ok, I guess its not the timber frame, as such, that's making it difficult.

    Try here:-

Try a local broker but not Swintons, they'll probably quote Aviva (It's not normally worth trying Aviva direct as the offer different products through brokers).

Have you tried asking your neighboors who I assume have the same style of building who they insure with?
