Gable end rendering

Hopefully this is a nice easy question - when we bought our house the previous owners has butchered a small side extension on the house in preparation for laying foundations for a bigger extension.
They then put new foundations in and had planning permission for the new extension. We have no plans to put in this extension at all.
Therefore we ave got quotes from builders to make good the side of the house (effectively levelling it off where they have ripped off the old extension) and then putting a new render on the entire gable end to tidy it up and make it look good.
We are in Scotland and not it any conservation area so do I need any planning permission or building warrant in place to do this as info I can find online is contradictory. The gable end is already rendered but not all as lots has fallen off with the work they did on it.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi freddy,
If all you are doing is stripping off existing defective render to your gable wall and replacing it with new then I don't think you will need planning permission or a building warrant.
depending on your budget, you might benefit from using an insulated render system
