HSBC paying in book.

A cheque has come for dad who is very unwell at present,i will be taking it to his bank along with his paying in book,the only query i have is where it says " paid in by ", do i put my name there it does sound obvious just making sure.

Yes, put your name. The name doesn't have to match the account name for paying in.0
