Had a letter out of the Blue from BT Group saying it had arranged a "Quick & easy" share dealing service with Equiniti for buy or sell BT shares. Has to be actioned before 18th April.

I've had BT shares for donkey's years but never had a letter like this before, just wondering what might have triggered it.
    Any idea why now?

I think you may find they send these out annually, I got a letter on Friday too, I know I have had one before.

"surefire winner", hmm ... where's your crystal ball?

The last time I sold any I got £12.67 a share, paid off my mortgage with them.
Hey ho, that's the stock market for you!

Easyshare seem to charge £10 to transfer a stock out (the information isn't easy to find), so I can sign the form, send it back and wait for my cheque OR Open an account with X-O, sort out the stock transfer, pay for it somehow (how?), sell the shares and somehow extract the dosh from X-O into my account,

Hmm, is it really worth the time and hassle to save £45?

Heh heh, I remember buying some at £9/share, they went up to £10 in less than a week, I got greedy , well we know the rest of the story :rotfl:
I then had 3500 and was waiting for the shares to hit £4 to clear my mortgage, well that didn't happen either :o
Lets hope I can get a new car with my stocks when the order books are open.

With a bit of effort I may be able to beat the £60 rate offered in the letter, but it's still pretty good in comparison with £135 via their normal service.

Only for those who would consider paying £135 to sell a bit of paper! It would cost Equiniti no more to trade a holding of 1000 shares than it would to trade 10, so a percentage based charge is not really justified.

Another disadvantage of the 'offer' in the letter is that you must sell your entire holding. This is no good if you want to split your sale across 2 tax years to avoid CGT.

I think we can agree that this offer is really for holders of very small numbers of shares.
