Lots of stupid pictures on facebook?
So many 8MP camera users on full quality and uploading any old rubbish.
Even if you just get the thumbnails it adds up also.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Do you have sky TV? Checked my plusnet usage the other week as for every day last month it was using 4gb peak every day (luckily my internet is useless) so had a warning that I'll be charged £5 extra.
Found it was our sky box constantly downloading gigabytes of crap after a recent update.0 -
17gb in 1 day would have to be downloading a helluva lot and I doubt farmville is to blame....you sure no hd movies are being downloaded or via skyHd on demand?

Have you set up any network traffic counters on the PC themselves? I can't believe Farmville is burning through that much data unless something has gone very wrong.

Yes we have sky but our box is 6 + years old - we have never tried to do the movie download thing as I don't think our box is compatible. Our box is connected to our phone line however .... (but not the internet) (confused now!)
My immediate reaction was oh s**t harvesting crops and feeding animals has scuppered our internet download but actually when I look at the breakdown, 4GB was downloaded in off peak time on Friday 1 March which is timed between midnight and 4pm which is (a) when we would have been asleep and (b) would have been when we are at work so something has been downloading in the background.
Since the download continues on Saturday 2nd, (17.96GB in PEAK times (4pm to midnight) that suggests the same thing continued to download ....0 -
Either someone else is using your internet connection or something is download large files during the night or Plusnet has got it wrong.
Personally I'd disconnect the modem when I go to bed (or even for an entire 24 hour period) and see what Plusnet reported for that day...assuming you can live without the WWW for a day or night of course!
I'd probably start by unplugging the modem each night for a week... shouldn't take long to see the Plusnet usage results drop to zero assuming they're not accidentally mixing your usage with someone else.....

I think we might be getting in contact with plus net as it doesn't make sense. They can certainly see from our history what our usual monthly allowance is. I like the idea of switching off the modem. I'm reluctant to be asking my neighbours if they have had any problems with their internet as that would give the game away if they have been tapping in. Our wireless is secure (or I thought it was) but I suspect it isn't impossible to do if you have the know how.0
