Could someone please give me a rough calculation of what a family 2 parents with two children under 10 different sexes living in SH in a 3 bed would get in benefits please.

One parent working full time on nmw at £250 per week. Other caring for a severely disabled child on hrc dla child aged 2.

Many thanks in advance.

    Xmas Saver!
    I entered 2 adults aged 35.
    One earning £250 a week.
    One getting Carers Allowance.
Two children, youngest getting high disability on both components.
(the site didn't ask for age)

I used £100 week rent, £100 month council tax.

    Benefits were-

    £282 Tax Credits
    £33 Child Benefit

Total £316 plus DLA and carers.

    Not entitled to HB
    Not entitled to CTB

    OMO
  • Sorry cant answer your query but I didnt want to visit your thread without acknowledging you.
Personally I googled my "local authority+ hosing benefit calculator" i was directed to the coucil site where I was able to complete their calculation form. You dont have to give your real name or age etc.. it was quite straight forward for me but Im single and no disabilities You will have to complete a few more forms than me but you will get a more clearer picture of your situation.
Best wishes for your future hope its full of love

Many thanks for imfo. Is that a weekly figure for child tax credits?!

Are you saying that such a family would be entitled to £316 a WEEK in benefits, in addition to £250 earnt? That's over £2,300 a month????

No offense to you OP, I'm sure you would much prefer have a healthy child, but when I think that this is what I was earning through working full time at a very stressful job whilst raising my two young children on my own, yet was entitled to no help AND had to pay £300 a month childcare costs, you do wonder why there are less and less people aspiring to careers and well paid jobs...

It would be more, counting the child's disability allowance. That's why the welfare system needs urgent reforms (the current ones don't go far enough). It's unfair and not fit for purpose.

I quite agree, it is a ridiculous amount of Benefits money. I don't in any way blame the OP's clients for claiming it if that is what they are entitled to, but it just goes to show what an absolute shambles the Benefits system is and thank goodness for Universal Credit, can't happen quickly enough.
