Rugby L and Cycling are these the keys that you really want .0

The Rugby L and Cycling is something I watch every week (during the season) so its pretty important to me.
NowTV I can get the Rugby, but dont think I can get the Cycling.
The Budget. We can afford the £97 but its going up again and I would rather spend less on it and put the savings elsewhere to be honest.0 -

I am looking at alternatives from the Sky package that we currently have. We currently pay £97 per month.
We currently have our Phone, Broadband and Sky+ HD. With our Sky package we get the Variety & Sports package.
We arent bothered about the films on Sky hence why we dont have them. I have netfilx and use that a bit too.
We watch the odd football game during the season but I mostly get the sport for the Rugby League and the Cycling.
I have looked at NowTV but I cant get the cycling on there. I could get Eurosport Player at £4.99p/m during the season but not sure how to record races to watch back. Some more research really.
We have called Sky up this evening to see if we can get our costs down and they can only drop it by £17 a month but in a month or so thats going up by £5 anyway so it would be £12 a month
Does anyone know any alternatives?
I was going to suggest an alternative involving a PVR but then I just noticed you said "not sure how to record races to watch back" which I admit has stumped me.
You do not need the sports add-on to get Eurosport on Sky so you could save a bit there.....but the Rugby is on Sky Sports 3 so you would need the Sports add-on for that or use the NowTV live streaming service.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thanks guys
I think my first step is to haggle again and basically give them it lol
thanks again0 -
I've had my box for about 18 months, and overnight, all saved programmes were deleted. It's possible to set up a record and to see the ones planned for recording, but it doesn't actually record.
Has anyone else experienced this? We're thinking of going back to Sky...
Thanks in advance.0 -
Has it carried out an automatic re-tune?
My Humax PVR Freeview box deletes all the programmes that have been saved for recording when it re-scans for channels. Mine has recently done this because of changes and I've have to re-schedule everything! Something to do with the Olympic Games?0 -
I've got a Humax Foxsat HDR, and yes, when you do a retune, you lose the schedule - but that won't all happen automatically, you would have to select it yourself.
If you're saying you've lost programmes already recorded, I can only guess a hard drive failure (quite easy to fit another one) or you've a ghost in the house deleting stuff...0 -
I've just moved home, the previous owner must have had Sky Multiroom as there are cables from the dish going to the bedroom and conservatory as well as the lounge.
My SO also wants to get multiroom, but frankly I don't want to pay the extra £12 a month. We have two old Sky boxes, one of the earlier HD boxes and an old non-HD (white) box. Is there any reason why we can't install the old boxes in the bedroom and conservatory and move the viewing card between them? Obviously we wouldn't be able to watch Sky content in more than one room at once but this wouldn't be a problem.0 -
In the HD boxes at least, the card needs to be paired to the box. You do this by phoning Sky, not sure if there's another way. That would be a lot of phonecalls for your plan! A Freesat box would get you more channels than a Sky box with no card, and will allow recording, which might be better value than £12 per month.0
