Praise: Asda Home Delivery

Been using Asda for my online shopping for a few months and overall, been very pleased, a few minor niggles which were easily sorted (broken eggs, wrong size nappies).

Got our delivery as usual today, but as the chap was unloading I saw that there was some shopping in the box which wasn't mine, well a whole green plastic box full of freezer stuff that wasn't mine. Also noticed that some of my shopping was missing.

Went through the receipt, marked off what was missing and driver went to phone the store. Thinking the worst, thought 'oh pants, going to have to go out shopping now as all they'll do is refund me'.

Quite surprised when the delivery man came back and said 'the home shopping manager is getting your items from the shop floor and he'll deliver by 2pm' given it was 1:15pm, I was a bit dubious, however the chap said 'look, even if I have to go and get your shopping now and bring it back before my next route, I promise you that you'll get your shopping'.

25 minutes later, the manager turns up, full of apologies, with my missing items, many profuse apologies followed plus a £10 gift card and free delivery on my next shop, totally unexpected and in no way needed as I only wanted my shopping but a really lovely gesture & much appreciated.

Have rung the store & head office to say a huge thanks. I know Asda home shopping do get bad press but sometimes they do right their wrongs and I am extremely grateful for them doing so today.

should get it right first time. no excuses.

    poor service.
  • Mistakes happen, as you should know when you went to Comet to find it closed!

I was not greatly inconvenienced in terms of time or money and the outcome was positive.

Human beings make mistakes. Always have and always will. The test of a decent company is how they deal with them.

I have never had less than excellent customer service from Asda since using the Home Delivery option. True, there can be some niggles and sometimes they'll be darn right cheeky with the substitutions.

Just check the products, check the receipt and then (Only then) sign that you have received your order. For one or two items they'll do a refund, no questions asked service, which is really useful!

However you can easily reject an item there and then and have it sent back, you can send items back with the next delivery (check to make sure the manager is okay with that).

Generally, I get better customer service and feel like I'm both safer and getting the best deal for my money than any other similar service provider.

I get the service that I pay for and a bit more as far as I'm concerned. If I wanted everything exactly right first time round I'd give plenty of time and pay for a perfect service.

So I really have to disagree with N113. Human = Accident Prone, Business = Profit Hungry... plenty of excuses. Yet Asda still deliver where it matters.
