DLA effect on child benefit for higher rate taxpayer

Hello, I`m a higher rate tax payer (only just) and the sole family earner. We get DLA/Carers allowance for our disabled daughter and I wondered if these will count towards my net salary - reducing the amount of child benefit we get.Does anyone know? (I tried contacting the government and I`m still awaiting a reply). Thanks Rob

Hi Rob
I assume that your Child Benefit is already reduced because you are a higher rate tax payer?
Carers Allowance is means-tested so you shouldn't be getting this.
As far as I am aware, DLA doesn't affect Child Benefit (I am quite sure of this). Hopefully someone will be along to confirm soon.Debt December 2012 - Approx £4070...
February 2013 £2784.640 -
carers allowance isnt means tested and IS counted as income.
but i assume it isnt the OP claiming it, so it would have no eddect0 -

Apologies I got that wrong. I thought that if you are working and earn over £100 per week you would lose all of your Carers Allowance which I considered "means-tested" but really not the right definition.
But I have missed that the OP's partner is likely to be the person claiming the Carers Allowance.Debt December 2012 - Approx £4070...

it isnt means tested, as means tested benefits depend on household income.
i assume the £100 earnings limit for carers allowance is because it is presumed that in order to care for at least 35 hours a week, you really wou;dnt have time to earn more than that.
it is a 'wage replacement' benefit0 -
If you are only just in the higher rate tax bracket then even with DLA you wouldn't be in the income bracket to be affected by removal or reduction of CB. It doesn't anyway.Hello, I`m a higher rate tax payer (only just) and the sole family earner. Thanks to everyone for making that clearer...incidentally, my wife (who gets the DLA daughter) often calls me old pig (shortened to OP) ! - well it gave us a laugh in adversity..thanks again. Rob0

As far as I know the date will be classed as the child's income even if it is paid into the parent's bank account.0
