Pre-payment electricity meter at new flat

I have just moved to a new flat and it has an electric pre- payment meter. It is just myself living there with 1 bedroom. I don't know if I can change to regular electric. I am being charged £2.11/week. Can anyone recommend the cheapest provider if I have to stay with the meter or just the cheapest provider if I can change to a regular tariff. Many thanks:(

First think you need to do is ask the landlord's permission to change the meter - use the address at which to serve notices on your tenancy agreement - second to ask the current supplier if they will install a credit meter. Nobody can tell you who the cheapest supplier is, that depends on your usage patterns (in KWH not ££) and your area. Try a price comparison site.

For what? You need to list kwh used and standing charge.

That £2.11 a week is most likely the Standing Charge that all suppliers will levy no matter what sort of meter you have, but some are cheaper than others

Never the less there is nothing to stop you Switching supplier with your pre-payment meter But do so successfully you have to have a good idea of your Annual consumption in Kwh - If you post the detail of Elec appliances in the flat, especially of how it is heated, someone will respond with a "Best Guess"
