Do you have to mention unsuccessful claims when looking for new house ins?

I'm helping my mum look for new home/contents insurance online.
Last year she made a claim on her current insurance which was rejected as they stated the leaking roof was not due a series of bad storms her area had been through. So my mum ended up paying to have the roof replaced from her own money.
This really angered her as she had been with same company for over 40 years! Hence now the renewal is due, she wants to change company.
However, I need to know before we go ahead with a fantastic quote I've found her, do we need to tell them about the claim, even though it was unsucessful?
Can't find the info anywhere online.
Thank you in advance
Sharon

Yes you do, even a simple inquiry about a possible claim that a person decides not to follow up with the insurance company is logged onto the computer & can affect your success in finding an alternative cheaper insurer elsewhere. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
It depends on the questions being asked. (But usually you need to disclose losses/incidents as well as successful claims)
The use "claim" to relate to claims and losses (ie not just "claims")
If you are looking at an online quote, see if they define what they mean by "claims" - sometimes there is a help button along side each section of the quote form.0
