connect old printer to new pc

Link light works. No changes to address range. I did check the addresses of all other devices and tried reconfiguring the printer for a different address, but it didn't help.0

The default in Windows 7 is to configure the LAN as a HomeGroup (see https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=homegroup+windows).
I don't think you can use a HomeGroup if there are any devices on your network that aren't running a recent Windows version, so maybe that's why the printer isn't accessible.
I think you can check/change the setting via the Network option in the Control Panel.0 -

Bought the suggested jetdirect card on ebay, but unfortunately it won't fit the printer - wrong size; hadn't realised there were different sized ones. The one in the printer includes RS232 and parallel ports. Question is, if the network port is faulty, is it likely the others will be too?0
