Apologies if this subject matter has been covered extensively elsewhere...
I want to get my laptop cleaned as I've noticed that the fan runs far more often and for longer thjan previously. Does anybody know who might offer such a service? I rang PC World and was told that they didn't clean laptops.
Any other ideas?
My thanks to those who reply in advance

You can possibly do it yourself.
Depending on the make/model, there should be youtube videos to give you an idea of how to do it yourself.
Your local PC repairer will do it for you, but prices vary.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
Attempting to do it myself will most certainly result in disaster!
I've tried some internet searches but only found companies that do it commercially.
I'm slightly confused with PC World's attitude. Presumably they take the bottom off to repair it. Why not to clean it too?0 -

Not as much as giving it to PCW will! They do 'clean laptops': if you take one in for repair, then they'll probably 'clean' it by wiping your data and reinstalling the OS, regardless of what the fault might be. If you can't tackle it yourself, take it to an independent laptop repair shop. Don't even consider PCW if you value your data. They don't usually do laptop repairs, and if they do they'll be sent out to a third party.
Tell us the make and model and proper advice can be given: some laptops are a doddle to unclog, others are not.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
software can make the fan run more often, see if any processes are hogging the cpu in task manager
also make sure the vent has space underneath to expel air.
As far cleaning dust out, if there is any, all you need is a screwdriver and a little patience.!!

I really do know my limitations. Screwdrivers and I have never seen eye to eye!
I have found a few local places by replacing the word "cleaning" with that of "repair".
It looks like the going rate is between £40 and £60.0 -

Can a big patience be used if you don't have a little one? :rotfl:How do I add a signature?0
