Long term antibiotics are known to cause thrush. No harm treating that while you wait to see consultant. Ring GP and ask if he can have prescription for single oral tablet and topical cream x

Thanks all - I also believe antibiotics destroy good bacteria in stomach so would explain upsets. You don't realise until you're looking after someone with cancer what horrible side effects there are.

On the plus side I've got him sorted with swimming/possible gym at the local leisure centre. He and his carer are meeting a chap who promotes exercise for disabled next week. He can sort out a programme to gently build up Mr SA's strength with supervision. Mr SA is very excited about this, particularly the swimming side. In fact the way he's going on he will be entering the London Marathon soon :) It's cheered him up anyway.

More good news in that I've had £20 in gift vouchers from work for helping with a training course. Can be spent in several shops so with them, £25 Boots gift card from DD for Xmas, £17 in Debenhams rewards and £31 Boots Advantage points I've got enough for a mini shopping spree without any money exchanging hands :)

As both Mr SA are feeling better after our cold bouts, he has started up the Saturday coffee hassle again!

  • Brilliant news about the swim/gym and the positive mental boost it's given :T.

Well done you on the vouchers too. I hope you treat yourself to something nice Xx

Scottish Power have paid £473 into my bank account. I know my account was in credit but now I'm starting to think I must've read the meters wrong as my utility bills are usually sky high this time of year. I need to ring them over the weekend anyway as the current deal is coming to an end. Can't get excited about this money back until I've checked.

Managed to get out of going for a coffee this morning as we're going to a retail park this afternoon with DS and family.

  • It is funny but I hate going for coffee! I really can't see the appeal! glad you are both coming out of the end of the cold.

hope you have a good time at the retail park, I am off to see my friend and them maybe a bit of a shopping.....

take care SA, I hope you finish the day doing exactly what you want XXX

I love the weekends now I am not working!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Looked at my Scottish Power online account and I was over £1k in credit during the summer!!!!!! Re-read meters and I've read them right, switched tariff for another year and monthly payment has gone down. So looks like the £473 is all mine :) However account is now zero so will need to keep an eye on it. I've downloaded an app on my iPad and I'm going to keep reading the meters and submitting readings monthly just to make sure I'm on track.

Went to retail park with DS yesterday. You should've seen me loading my basket with stuff (all needed) for the house cashing in on the fact that we were in a car. I got some great bargains in Mr T Home shop, bath towels only £3 each, cream ones not daft colours, hand towels £1.50 and fab soft bath mats £4. We needed towels and bath mats and I was dreading lugging them back from town so I filled my basket. Mr SA got a sweatshirt and t shirt and we bought some other house bits and bobs. Spent £73 but got loads. Mr SA had walked far round the shop before he had to sit down. We lost him at one point and then spotted him in the in store Costa! I kept thinking someone was going to come up to us and say is anyone looking after this bloke!

Totted up spends for the week and was shocked to find the total was£327.54!!!!!! £157.03 was groceries. OMG! Next week has got to be a more controlled week.

I've made a meal plan for next week, forward planning my WW points. I lost 1.5lbs last week so 14.5 to go in 12 weeks. Wednesday I'm out on a retirement lunch so will try my best to be as careful as I can. Planning to be extra good Mon, Tues and Thurs to make up for it. Should be able to get back on the exercise wagon next week, hoping to start up again Tuesday. Feel a lot better now, not 100% but getting there.

And last but not least I will be paying off the Halifax card tomorrow. Not claiming total debt free status until the spending card has been paid off at on payday. I will think of myself as debt free when I am at the stage where whatever goes on the card gets paid off at the end of every week.
