Well I have postnatal depression but it's been worsened by a number of things. I'm sure being skint and stressed out paying off debt hasn't helped though.

Money (or the great lack of it!) is my biggest stress. I have been suicidal over it. Money doesn't buy happiness but a severe deficit causes plenty misery! How are you anyway, use to read your posts with interest! Did you get anywhere with the PC?

Oh don't go there!!!!! I had a bit of luck with bank charges, got £200 refund from Natwest, bought a laptop of ebay, had it 2 weeks till it wouldn't turn on:mad:  Of course I paid by chque so have no comeback, and they guy ignored all my emails, I took it to get looked at, apparantly its the motherboard thats gone, and it would cost more than the laptops worth to repair.

Honestly, If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any Grrrr.

Well as they say, money doesn't buy happiness, but it makes misery more comfortable.

I would have to say that without a pschyic analysis it has affected me. It prayed on me for over 5 years and occupies every single waking thought of every single day (apart from when I was drunk). It has affected my outlook on life and I am sure that my attitude to life has been scarred forever. I believe that I may be teatering on the edge of depression. In a nutshell, yes.

Debt has caused me severe depression back in August and I nearly had a complete breakdown. It is a vicious circle as in my case I turned to gambling to try and get out and also I find it a form of escapism. Just to add I am now attending G.A and since then have sorted out my creditors and now am back on track!

Of course it made things 10 times worse as I still had debt problems, got into trouble with work as I couldnt concentrate on my job and in the end increased my debt. When I spoke to the Doctor he basically said that he believed that it was all connected.

The mind is a funny thing and debt does effect people in different ways. I didnt have a full nights sleep for nearly 3 months when I was at the peak of my troubles. It is no wonder I nearly had a the breakdown.

yes it causes depression stress and all sorts of other horrors. Have been off work for 2 months with stress related ilness but have to return soon as i need to pay my debts. I know that returning to work will only add to my stress as its a stressfull job so I am stuck in a bit of a minefield really... ho hum.

debt can lead to mental health problems and numerous deaths can be directly linked to it, it a can also put a strain and destroy relationships, causes as a lot of stress which in turn can effect your immune systems and cause indirectly other illness as a result.............lack of money can limit the nature of your diet which again can effect your health on different levels.

My daughter was a single parent struggling with spiralling debt.Which we ,her family new nothing about. The first I knew of a problem was when a friend of my daughter phoned me (Day after I left my job!) I wont go into details but their were serious mental health problems.Including anxiety and o.c.d

To cut a long story short Daughter saw Drs, counsilers mental health nurses nobody seemed able to help. I became aware of Daughters debt and we as a family were able to help her with that. She could see light at the end of the tunnel and is sooo much better now, not completely "mended" but better. So yes debt does cause mental health problems as far as I am concerned.

For me, I don't think the debt was the cause of my depression/anxiety. But it certainly hasn't helped with my recovery.
