Plumber for kitchen taps - fair ?

Replacing the tap in the kitchen. ( single kind that does both hot & cold ). Plumber quoted £120. This is a price for Central London. I haven't a clue if this is about right. Tbh I was so glad to find a local plumber that I've already booked him. But I'd still like to be reassured that this price is reasonable ?

That kind of tap retails in cheaper outlets for something like £40, so with the costs of coming to you and labour time it does not seem to bad a price to me

The £120 is his time only - doesn't include the new tap.

I used a local 'handyman' for mine. he charged £20 per 1/2 hour and the job cost £40. (although easily could have gone to £60)

It wasn't easy to do either because the pipework has to be changed around a bit if the new tap can't be connected exactly the same as the old (and my old one was so old they don't make that type anymore...) and the legnths of bits supplied with the tap can be different too.

I was well pleased because a real plumber would have charged me about the amount you are quoting. I just made sure he had done similar and had the tools and bits and peices before starting and i was lucky to find a good 'un.

Somerset, the plumber I used in North London charged me £30. I have PM'd you his phone number. He also covers Central London. £120 is extortionate!

Also you can get really nice mixer taps on Ebay brand new for £20-30. I will find the seller later & send you the link. Don't have Ebay access at work! But I think they were called Wharf Plumbing & offer next day delivery. The taps are solid brass, very heavy & excellent quality.
