Parking at Perth Royal Infirmary is free yet I came back to my car after visiting the outpatients department this afternoon and found a demand for £60 stuck on my windscreen.

By what authority are they entitled to claim £60 from me?

None ignore them, they don't know who was driving, you have no obligation at all to tell them. So ignore

In Scotland there is no appeals procedure so ignore them.

But you could raise the sort of complaints and issues with this landowner that have already been raised with Asda about this bunch of jokers:

http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=75552

Also email the DVLA to complain as well about your data being sold to a company who were only recently banned (for a few days...pathetic!) for infringements regarding their change of name:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4422129

email and complain to FOI@dvla.gsi.gov.uk

And i bet there was no mention of Smart Parking Ltd on the signs?
Just like there is no mention of Smart Parking Ltd on the AOS list.

Be interesting to see how the DVLA wiggle out of that.

Cheers st999. I spend ages trying to get them to give me a ticket to read and you manage it without trying. Harrumph!

Ignore this bunch of muppets. They were in the Dundee Telegraph a few weeks ago after they tried ticketing people who had simply driven through St Catherine's retail Park.

As C-M says, they can be safely ignored as there is no way on this earth that you owe them money. Also, if they do decide to make you the first person they ever take to court I'll come with you to enjoy their humiliation.

My husband was up in Perth visiting a very poorly relative in the stroke unit and when he returned he had one of these tickets. He has been very upset and has been rushing to pay it. When I looked on the ticket, only part of the registration number is shown, and its from Smart Parking, Perth.
Fortunatly, I googled the company and found that obviously they pay to have their listing way high above the forum postings so you go there first, but I thought, "hang on a minute, if Martin Lewis' site has a forum thread on it, there must be something valid to read". Thank goodness I looked. I now see so many threads on different forums to do with them.
Despicable that they target peopl when they are low and visiting a hospital.
Thank you for the threads which saved us £30 :D

Good! :)

In Scotland the well-known Watchdog advice applies, from Tim Cary the Solicitor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA

Show your husband that video if he needs more convincing when the letters start to arrive from debt collectors. He won't just panic and pay then, will he? I'm just an ordinary wife & Mum with a job in a school and a clean credit record - and I have ignored 3 fake PCNs and all the debt collector bumf (I stress for newbies reading this, that 'ignore' is now only the best advice for Scotland & NI).

To be proactive I would definitely pen a complaint to the Chief Executive of that Hospital and the Service Manager of the Stroke Unit, saying how upset these fake PCNs make people who are already vulnerable, and ion your husband's case can they please call the 'dogs' off before your husband gets the expected scary threatogram letters about it and before it makes him ill?

• I had a ticket as I was parked in a car park for only out patients. Who would have thought there were different labelled carparks at a hospital... I didnt have an appointment slip to display so I got a ticket. In actual fact I was picking up my wife and newborn son and the nearest car park space I could get to the maternity ward I parked. I wrote an email to appeal, and recieved a letter saying I still owe them, and have a extended discount period to pay them (thats very nice of them giving me a discount).

I will be going to the maternity ward and want to speak to someone from the hospital as this is frankly shocking that I had a genuine reason for visiting the hospital, but the carparks were full so when noticed a space close by I get issued one of these tickets.

Trying to say to the wife that Im ignoring it, but she is worried of any consequences. I am off to the hospital later to have a good old moan at them.

1. Who is this ticket from?

2. The emphatic "ignore" advice on this thread stems from the incident being in Scotland. Are you in Scotland? (Not that it matters if you revealed yourself as the driver in your "appeal" as by doing so you will have waived Scots immunity)

3. Please answer these questions on a new thread rather than hijacking one from 9 months ago.
