Ryanair flight schedule change

hello, I am flying to Rome over easter and Ryanair have just informed me that my flight has been changed.

Basically I am coming back to England via this routing:

CIA-TPS (Rome to Trapani) at 0800

TPS-MAN (Trapani to Manchester) at 1600.

It was the cheapest routing back, costs about 43 euro when i booked.

Now, they have changed my flight from TPS-MAN to leave at 0630. Outrageous! They have offered me a refund but that's obviously useless in my case.

I use skyscanner alot and I realise that I still can leave Rome on that day, using yet another routing

CIA-BGY (Rome to Milan)
BGY-LBA (Milan to Leeds)

This option is infact cheaper than my original. I was wondering whether ryanair would be "gracious" enough to change my original CIA-TPS flight (which cost 23.2 euro when i booked) to a CIA-BGY flight (which cost 18.4 euro). and then i can go ahead and refund my TPS-MAN and rebook a BGY-LBA.

ALternatively there is a direct CIA-MAN flight. its currently at 150 euro. does anyone think i can ask for this flight?

under EU261, I could request that I could be re routed, am I right? there is a flight back from TPS-LTN the next day at 1530, would I be feasibly put on that? Also, would my transport costs from Luton back to Leeds be reimbursed?

I know its a long shot but anyone has experienced this?

p/s i wonder if i can claim from my insurance if i cant do the above? I've a wasted manchester airport to leeds ticket as well.

thanks!

I doubt they'd agree to do either but the only way to find out is to call them and ask. As for travel insurance, every policy is different so you'll have to check the details of yours to find out if you're covered.

thanks. checked my travel insurance (chartis) and we're covered up to 600 pounds for a missed connection/departure. Not sure if I can claim it though, as they say they only cover for mechanical issues, industrial action etc. I think ryanair cancelled our flight this occasion probably because there were not enough seats booked...

Ryanair are a point to point airline. They don't do connections and make that quite clear.

You can always ask them you never know they may help you. But you don't know until you ask!

quite resigned to this now, thank you anyway. only consolation is i get to fly back to Leeds instead of Manchester now.

Ryanair may well move you to that flight if you ask them.

Not sure on the EU261 re routing thing. If you've elected to take a flight the next day to Luton I'm not sure what Ryanair's obligations would be. But if they were obliged to provide onward transportation costs it would be to Manchester and not Leeds.

I think you may have to waste the €23 on the CIA-TPS flight, take the refund on the TPS-MAN and then book your CIA-BGY-LBA (and hope those times aren't messed with!).

It's still worth calling them to discuss your options.

you are correct that you are entitled to be rerouted. This happened to us 2 years ago and a very pleasant eastern european lady did just that for us moving us to a totally different airport which was far more expensive. If there is a direct flight you want even if it is dearer then I would go for that as admin wise it will be easier but just ask nicely if you can move to what is best for you and see what response you get. -In fact I think I reported just this on MSE at the time. Good Luck- it is worth trying a few times -ie if the first person isnt so pleasant.

But you are being re-routed, at 6.30am! You have no right to be re-routed from CIA just because you can no longer make a connection that was booked on a seperate ticket.

If they agree to change your flight to TPS-LTN you'd have to cover your own costs of getting to Leeds. I think your best option is to ask to be put on the direct flight to MAN.
