Help! New insurer saying a claim was made

Hello hope someone can give me some advice.

Last year someone clipped my wing mirror and as per my insurers terms and conditions I rang them to advise that an incident had occured. I later decided not to make any claim.

At the end of the year, my insurer sent me a renewal letter stating I had 1 years no claim bonus.

I decided to go with a new insurer and paid up front. They have now sent me a letter stating that there is a claim on my old insurance, that my premium has now increased and that I have to also pay an admin fee!!

By calling up your insurance to admit to the accident, even though you didn't claim, it still counts as an incident.
Any incidents on the insurance database must be declared for around 5 years (or what ever time period a company asks for)

Your NCB is not affected, but you still need to declare this incident now. Maybe you can call up your current insurer and explain you were unaware and see if they remove the admin fee as a good will gesture... They may not agree, but you never know.
